Shekinah Residential Institute for Disabled (Integrated)
This Institute is being run at Hayathnagar Mandal of Ranga Reddy District, Telangana, India. “THIS SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE, RUN AND MANAGED BY A PROFESSIONALLY QUALIFIED PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PERSON AND A DEDICATED TEAM OF EXPERTS, IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE STATE OF TELANGAN”. It provides special education, food, accommodation and health care to children with Special Needs such as Intellectually Disabled, Cerebral Palsied and Autistic. It was started with just 35 children and 3 teachers. Today, there are 120 children with disabilities getting quality Special education and training with the support of 30 trained, experienced and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff. Apart from regular school education the organization is imparting pre-vocational and vocational training. The students are given regular physiotherapy, speech therapy, behavior modification therapy and training in self-help skills.
In order to develop creativity and build self-confidence in the children, indoor games, drawing, dance and cultural activities are encouraged. We are happy to mention that the children of Shekinah have given performances over Doordarshan and All India Radio and at various cultural platforms like Ravindra Bharathi and Harihara Kala Bhavan, Hyderabad
Apart from regular school education the organization is imparting pre-vocational and vocational training like computer, typewriting, screen-printing, dressmaking, toy making and embroidery. The students are given regular physiotherapy and yoga sessions as well as moral and spiritual teachings at the school.
In order to develop creativity and build self-confidence in the children, indoor games, drawing and cultural activities are encouraged. Special training is provided in hindustani classical music in the areas of vocal, harmonium, tabala and violin through “ The Music Wing” of the organization under the guidance of qualified music teachers. We are happy to mention that the children of Shekinah have given music performances over Doordarshan and All India Radio and at various cultural platforms like Ravindra Bharathi and Harihara Kala Bhavan, Hyderabad.
